Meet our Governing Body

Mr B. Core
Chair of Governors
Curriculum Area: Physical Education
Governor of Class: 2W

"
I was born in Manchester, the same year Winston Churchill resigned as Prime Minister. I was educated at St Pius X RC Secondary School, in Rusholme.  I started work for Manchester City Council the same year Mark Spitz won seven gold medals at the Munich Olympics.  I obtained an Honours degree in Public Administration the same year British scientists discovered an opening in the Earth’s ozone layer.  In my current job I am responsible for the delivery of all new primary school buildings.  I was Lead Education Officer in the delivery of Temple Primary School.  I live in Heaton Moor, Stockport and am married with two daughters. My interests include reading (mostly science fiction/fantasy), walking (often in Lake District or North Yorkshire), cycling (usually along River Tame in Reddish Vale and River Mersey) and chess (usually playing games against my home computer which I always win by using the “take back move” button)."

Mrs Sue Porter
Governor
Curriculum Area:
Governor of Class:

"I moved to Manchester in 2009 and having enjoyed working as a Governor with two schools in my home-time I applied to the Local Authority and was selected to be a Governor at Temple. I have two grown-up sons; one serving in the armed forces and the other studying history at the University of Manchester and I became actively involved in education and schools almost 20 years ago when my elder son started in reception. Since then I have worked in a variety of schools from Foundation Stage through to Y11 and currently I work in the Teaching Agency, part of the Department for Education, based in Piccadilly, Manchester. I am passionately interested in how schools work as learning organisations and am delighted to find that everyone at Temple is committed to learning."

"My name is Mrs Rather and I am a parent Governor at
Temple Primary School.  As an ex-pupil of this school, I feel privileged to have my two children attend the school too.  Having graduated from The University of Manchester I have a strong belief that all children should be given the best academic start in order to progress, as today’s children are tomorrow’s future. I have a good sense of humour and enjoy many things of which some include walking, watching sports, shopping and talking! I am a confident, fun and approachable person and I enjoy meeting new people and love making new friends."

Mr M. Pagel

"I have been a governor at Temple for over ten years.  The thing I like most about being involved with the school is the happy and friendly nature of the pupils and teachers.  I have been a councillor representing Cheetham for 17 years and also work as a regeneration consultant and an adviser to government on issues facing disabled people.  I love to travel and usually go on holiday to either Spain or Portugal.  I have previously worked in South Africa and the USA and have visited Central and South Americas.  In the next couple of years I hope to visit Pakistan, India and Bangladesh."
