To ensure that parents are aware of what their child is expected to learn we send home an overview of learning objectives to be taught in Literacy and Numeracy during a school year. An overview of topics being covered throughout the year is also provided.
Parents are encouraged to participate in their child's learning e.g. supporting children's reading and homework.
Some parents regularly come into school to help the class teacher and children. If you would be interested in coming into school please see your child's teacher or the Headteacher.
Parents are invited to two parents evenings a year (in October and February) and you will receive a written report on your child's progress at the end of the school year. If you would like to see your child's teacher at any other time please contact them and arrange to meet at a mutually convenient time.

Top of page ATTENDANCE
At Moston Lane Primary we aim to give children the maximum opportunity to reach their potential. For children to be successful and achieve their full potential it is vital that they are regular attenders. Clearly, sick children need to stay at home.
If your child is unable to attend then it is essential that you inform us on the first day of absence before 9.30am, either in person, by sending a letter with another child or by telephone (205 3864). The school office is open from 8.15am. Attendance is monitored daily. It is pleasing to report that many children achieved 98 % or more last year.
Unexplained absences will be monitored. Some reasons for absence may not be authorised by the school e.g. going shopping, illness of other family members. Pupils will be monitored by the Local Education Authority if attendance does not improve action is taken (this includes a fine).
Attendance and unauthorised absences will be reported on each child’s report at the end of the school year.

Top of page SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
The school's policy and provision for pupils with special educational needs is in line with the Code of Practice which was produced by the government to offer clear guidelines to ensure all pupils are offered full access to the curriculum. For the majority of children their needs are met within the school environment with the parent and teacher working closely together to support the child to achieve his/her full potential. Some children need more support and an individual education plan is written to meet their needs. Sometimes when educational assessments identify that support provided by the school will not be enough to enable a child to reach his/her potential then the Local Education Authority recognises this and provides additional support. A small minority of pupils are referred for additional assessment to identify specific needs and the school receives advice on how to ensure the needs are met.
